Upon closer inspection, the handiwork on our Moroccan ceramic bowl is unmistakable: the brushstrokes are so distinct that you’d think they were still wet. Yet the design is firmly fired into the glaze—and, of course, can no longer be wiped off. Hand-painted ceramics have a long tradition in Morocco. Just as it was centuries ago, clay is shaped on potter’s wheels into bowls, dishes, and the most beautiful decorative objects. The painting by skilled hands transforms each piece into a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Authentic Moroccan ceramics from Safi are recognizable by their iridescent colors. On this ceramic bowl, the typical leaf motif is surrounded by dots. Ideal as a bowl for apples, tomatoes, or bread, or for storing lemons, oranges, and nuts. However, please do not use it to serve hot foods, as these could damage the painting.
