Hand painted tile – Marrakech style
Hand-painted tiles are painstakingly created by hand in traditional workshops in Morocco. Artisans paint glazed clay tiles with a steady hand and great experience. During this step, the final result is barely visible - only after the second firing process in the oven do the colors develop their intense luminosity and permanently bond to the shiny surface of the ceramic.
This hand-painted tile features an expressive star pattern with floral elements and curved lines in bold colors such as blue, turquoise and warm yellow. The fine black contours frame every detail and give the pattern its clear structure. Such traditional decorative tiles are typical of Moroccan ceramics and are reminiscent of the decorative wall tiles found in riads and courtyards of Marrakech.
Traditional hand painted ceramic tiles from Morocco
Hand-painted ceramic tiles show the wide variety of oriental ornaments. From geometric star shapes to floral flowers and curved lines, artistic patterns are created that have been part of Moroccan tile art for centuries. Each glazed clay tile is individually painted and therefore bears the artisan's signature.
Ideal for kitchen, bathroom and decorative wall surfaces
With their format of around 10 × 10 cm, these Moroccan tiles are ideal as decorative wall tiles. They are particularly popular as a kitchen back wall or tile backsplash in the kitchen, as a colored tile band in the bathroom or as a decorative element in the guest toilet.
Hand-painted tiles are also often used in cafés, restaurants or catering establishments for counter cladding, small wall surfaces or decorative accents. In old buildings, Mediterranean interiors, in boho style or in country house style, different motifs can be combined to create a lively patchwork.
