Hand-painted tile – Mediterranean ornamentation
Painting glazed clay tiles is one of the most traditional forms of ceramic art in Morocco. The tiles are first fired and glazed in small workshops before experienced artisans apply the ornaments by hand. Only during the second firing process in the kiln do the colors and glaze completely combine - this creates the typical brilliant surface of the hand-painted ceramic tiles.
This hand-painted tile features a decorative pattern of intricate lines and geometric shapes in bold blue on a light background. The ornamental star motif is reminiscent of Mediterranean and Moorish tile decors and brings a lively, yet harmonious effect to the wall. Due to the handcrafted production, no two tiles are exactly the same - each one has its own character.
Traditional hand painted ceramic tiles from Morocco
These decorative tiles are manufactured using traditional techniques from oriental ceramic art. Each individual clay tile is glazed and then painted by hand. Typical of hand-painted tiles are the fine, dark contours that separate the different colors from each other and give the ornaments their precise shape.
Versatile use for kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms
With their format of around 10 × 10 cm, these ceramic tiles are ideal for decorative wall designs. They are particularly popular as kitchen splashbacks, tile backsplashes or as colored tile strips in the bathroom or guest toilet.
These hand-painted tiles also provide a Mediterranean flair as a counter cladding or as a decorative element in a café, restaurant or catering establishment. In old apartments, in country house style or in boho interiors, different motifs can be combined to create a lively patchwork.
