Hand painted tile - Mediterranean style
The production of hand-painted ceramic tiles is one of the oldest traditions of Moroccan craftsmanship. In small workshops, glazed clay tiles are painted with fine brushes by experienced artisans. During this step, the colors appear rather dull - they only develop their final brilliance during the second firing process in the kiln, when the glaze and pigments permanently fuse together.
This hand-painted ceramic tile features a vibrant ornament of circles, floral shapes and geometric elements in bold colors such as blue, red, green and yellow. The harmonious color composition is reminiscent of Mediterranean tile patterns found in traditional courtyards, patios or historic houses around the Mediterranean.
